On the night of Saturday, April 16, 2016 it only took 46 seconds for the most destructive earthquake in Ecuador since 1987, more than 690 national and foreign, 12 disappeared persons, 6274 wounded and 28600 people housed in shelters because they had lost everything.
The Ecuadorian coast was the most affected, the epicenter took place between the provinces of Manabi and Esmeraldas at the cantons of Pedernales and Muisne respectively. However the strength of this earthquake was felt throughout the entire country and shocked the whole world. Several countries showed all kinds of help, approximately one thousand experts from nine countries helped in the task of rescuing victims, more than 20 countries sent food, equipment and monetary donations.
It is impossible to calculate the losses that this earthquake has left us. At that time many had uncertainty of knowing what would happen the next day, on the other hand the less affected begin to contribute in some ways, nobody in Ecuador stood idly, we all knew that our country required solidarity hands because our affected siblings needed us.
In CARTOGAR we reiterate our commitment to Ecuador especially with our beautiful province of Manabí, reaching very affected communities at the area of Calceta and Rocafuerte, with cleaning supplies, non-perishable food, canned food, clothing, toys, mattresses and basic goods. Additional we knew the emotional affectation that entails this catastrophe for that reason a psychologist and a general practitioner evaluated over 500 participants including children, young people and adults.
This contribution was made possible by the involvement of important companies and the management of CARTOGAR´s staff. Apart from the support given, that day we share faith and hope, we were able to convey strength and optimism because at CARTOGAR we remain committed to the development of our community of Manabi.
Here we stayed, betting on a continuous improvement of this area, generating jobs in the country which proved on April 2016 to be the country with the greatest heart.
